Happy birthday to the mouse!

Wow, I don’t know how we missed it in our computer history segment for the week’s podcast (to be released tomorrow), but today is the 40th birthday of the computer mouse.

So, let’s all give a toast to the computer mouse!

Hear hear!

Dr. Douglas Engelbart introduced the first computer mouse at the Fall Joint Computer Conference. The first mouse was made of wood, had only one button, and had two wheels on the bottom rather than a ball.

Also, almost as if they had planned it as a tribute, Logitech produced their one billionth mouse a couple of days ago on December 3.

This month was a big month for the ordinary mouse!

Weird

I looked again, and I don't see any mention of the mouse for today. Pretty cool though!
