I always like to see good people do well. I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy quite a bit of Mur Lafferty’s work, including “Playing for Keeps”, in free podcast format, all for the low low price of free.

Now that “Playing for Keeps” is available on Amazon, Mur would like everyone who is going to buy it to buy it today, hopefully launching it up the amazon charts, where even more people will see it. Then those people purchase it, and it gets an even better rating. This has worked for other podcast novelists, and I hope it works for Mur today.

“Playing for Keeps” is kind of a misfit superhero story. A group of people with superpowers, some with very strange super powers, are deemed “not powerful” enough to join the superhero academy. Being rejected from the Academy is bad enough, but without the Academy they also are unable to become licensed SuperHeros, and unable to fight crime. They are called “third wavers”, and they come to comfort each other and hang out at Keepsie’s bar.

The mainstream SuperHeros are all glory hungry jerks who treat the third wavers badly, which makes it easy to hate them, especially in a city that idolizes them.

What follows is a story of the Underdogs using what they have to triumph over the bad guys, and the good guys, as the third wavers uncover a corrupt element in the academy, and set everything right. Well, almost everything.

Update:

I went onto Amazon to buy my copy of "Playing for Keeps", and noticed that Playing for Keeps is #1 in two categories, and #26 in Books overall! This is pretty darn good! I can't wait to see how it ends. Here's a screen shot.
