I talked a little about it in Show 5,and gave a brief overview at the time, but today I received my Microsoft Live Mesh invite! Boy was I excited.

Solving One Problem

One immediate use I saw for Live Mesh was to synchronize my OneNote Notebooks. I use OneNote for all of my note taking needs, and really love it, the only problem I run into is trying to keep the notebooks synched up between all of the computers that I use.

It isn't a huge problem, up until this point I had been keeping the notebooks on a USB flash drive, and I would just bring the flash drive back and forth to work with me.

The problem rears it's ugly head when I forget to bring the flash drive home, especially over a weekend. The notebooks do really well when it comes to resolving conflicts, so getting too far out of sync hasn't been a problem for me so far, the drawback is that I just don't have access to the latest notes.

I think that Live Mesh is going to be a terrific solution for this problem. As I'm typing this, I have already moved all of my notebooks, and added the folder to my Mesh Folders.

Lots of Space

When I watched the Learn More Video, I saw a quick glimpse of something that said the user had 5G of storage, this turns out to be true, as you can see from the screen shot below. I wonder if this will change when it goes public, or if Microsoft will have premium accounts, so that users can pay something to have more storage.

More to Come

I'm sure that I'll be writing more about my experiences with the service, and I already have some ideas about things I can try out. Stay tuned for more information.
